The Legend of the Christmas Stocking

Writing

Glittering

Adding cotton balls
Decorating with drawings
Being creative while wearing our Kwanzaa necklaces (and headdresses)
We read The Legend of the Christmas Stocking in class. We discovered the meaning behind the hanging and filling of Christmas stockings and a heartfelt lesson in kindness and generosity. To celebrate what we learned we made and hung our own stockings.

A day of Winter fun

The students learned the purpose and principles of Kwanzaa when Ms. Hinnant's family came to school for a visit. Ms. Hinnant's mother, aunt, uncle, grandfather, grandmother, and little cousin came to share about the holiday and its significance in their family. Kwanzaa begins on December 26th.

Oh, the Places We're Going

We're Going Places!
The students and I were sitting down at morning meeting and we saw a hot air balloon about to land beside the Sutherland Middle School courts. We immediately paused our morning meeting and went outside to witness the the balloon landing. Our class theme is Dr. Suess's "Oh, the Place's You'll Go" so it was fitting for us to take a picture. The students and I often discuss our goals, hopes, and dreams; this picture is a reminder for us that WE truly are going places.

Frontier Culture Museum

Our class had lots of fun on our way to the Frontier Culture Museum and even more fun once we arrived on that chilly, rainy day!
